Wicked World of Bel Ami

Book and lyrics by Ken Hill from the novel by Guy de Maupassant; Music by Jacques Offenbach

13 Apr - 13 May - Theatre Royal Stratford East

Set in late 19th Century Paris this vivid show tells the tale of the ultimate anti-hero Georges Duroy (the Bel-Ami of the title) as he ruthlessly thrusts his way up the social ladder of success, leaving in his wake a mass of discarded lovers, wives and friends. Add to this some of Offenbach's best-loved tunes and you have a stimulating evening's entertainment.
